There's something fascinating that keeps popping up in the Sasquatch research community, and a recent live Q&A over on TheLOWEdownFL channel really digs into it. The host spent some time chatting with viewers about all things cryptid, but one historical bit really caught my attention.
He brought up the Bardin Booger, a lesser-known but incredibly intriguing case out of Barden, Florida. For those unfamiliar, the Bardin Booger refers to Sasquatch-like sightings reported in that small Florida town way back in the early 1900s, with activity really ramping up in the 1940s. What makes this case particularly interesting is what the locals reported seeing alongside the creature. Witnesses described seeing a light around the Booger, which at the time they naturally assumed was a lantern being carried through the woods. But here's where it gets really compelling. The host pointed out that this is essentially the same phenomenon people are reporting today with orbs. Those mysterious balls of light that seem to accompany Sasquatch sightings have been part of the lore for over a century, even if our grandparents and great-grandparents didn't have the vocabulary to describe them the way we do now.
It's a great reminder that a lot of what gets dismissed as "new age" or "modern" paranormal phenomena actually has deep roots in older sighting reports. The language changes, but the experiences stay remarkably consistent.
The host also teased an upcoming mini-documentary he's working on about the Bardin Booger, which sounds like it could be a really valuable piece of regional Sasquatch history. He's planning to head up to the area, talk to locals, and put together something that does justice to this overlooked Florida case.
On top of that, he walked through a recent Florida encounter report from March 18, 2020, that took place near I-75 in Sarasota County. A group of investigators had been out three nights in a row checking trail cameras and running night vision and thermal equipment. The first two nights were pretty quiet, just some owls chatting back and forth, but on that Wednesday evening things apparently got more interesting as darkness fell. The discussion cuts off right as the action seems to be picking up, so you'll definitely want to check out the full video to hear how that one played out.
He also mentioned some upcoming podcast appearances he's got lined up, including recordings with Ashes, a live spot on the Paranormal Vortex with Kyle coming up in November, and an appearance on Beyond the Woodline in September. Sounds like there's plenty of fresh content on the horizon for anyone following the Florida Sasquatch scene.
If you're into regional Sasquatch history, especially the kind of older cases that don't always get the spotlight they deserve, this Q&A is worth the watch. The Bardin Booger discussion alone is enough to make it worth your time, and the Florida encounter report is a nice bonus.
