If you've been scrolling through YouTube lately looking for your next Bigfoot fix, there's a video that absolutely needs to be on your radar. A channel called BigfootStacy recently dropped a detailed breakdown of a spine-tingling encounter that includes thermal footage, and honestly, it's the kind of story that reminds you why this subject keeps pulling people back into the woods.
The video centers around a trip Stacy took back in 2011, and the backstory is almost as interesting as the encounter itself. She saw a woman on Finding Bigfoot who had a handprint on the inside of her door. Stacy actually looked the woman up in the phone book, called her, and ended up getting an invitation to visit the property. Her dad was originally supposed to go with her, but he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and had surgery, so she ended up bringing her bass player, Matt, instead. They figured they'd camp out, write some new music, and maybe get a little Sasquatch experience on the side.
When they arrived, Stacy spotted something walking into the woods from the road. At first she tried to convince herself it was just the back end of a hog, but it was black and moved in a way that didn't sit right with her. The property sat on 30 acres surrounded by roughly 5,000 acres of hunting lease, so it was nothing but woods for miles. The homeowners took them around on a Kawasaki mule, showing them spots where a BFRO investigator had sightings and where someone had been growled at. They even showed them little stick structures and tree arches scattered across the property.
The real action started after dark. Stacy and Matt went back up to the hill and sat near a little creek in a ravine. This is where the thermal footage comes in. Stacy had an industrial thermal camera, the kind used for spotting bad spots in wiring, and when she scanned across the ravine, there was a massive heat signature behind a small grouping of trees. Something roughly twice the size of the trees themselves. They got spooked and headed back to camp, which was only two hills over, not the mile and a half they thought.
What happened next is the stuff of campfire legends. They started hearing footsteps crunching through the fallen November leaves. Stacy held a light on a tree where the footsteps stopped for a solid ten minutes, convinced something was hiding behind it. When nothing emerged, she went back up the hill, and the moment she did, the walking started again. It waited her out. Then came the grunts, the branch breaks, and eventually, heavy breathing just at the edge of their firelight. Whatever it was stood there, looked at them, and then turned and walked away.
Stacy tried to stay up all night but ended up falling asleep on the cooler. She woke up to Matt screaming. The tent had been pushed in, six to eight inches from her face, before popping back up. Something then tore through the woods, sounding like a vehicle being driven off-road with no road. Matt wanted to jump in the truck and leave, but Stacy was too terrified to move, worried she'd wake up with something looking in the window at her. She stayed awake until daylight.
For those unfamiliar with the thermal imaging side of Sasquatch research, this kind of footage is highly sought after. Thermal cameras have become a go-to tool for investigators because they can pick up heat signatures in complete darkness, and there have been several notable captures over the years that show large bipedal figures moving through wooded areas. The fact that Stacy had one of these cameras with her that night and caught something on it adds a layer of credibility that's hard to dismiss.
The video is worth every minute. Stacy tells the whole story in her own words, and you can hear the emotion in her voice as she describes what happened. It's one of those encounters that stays with you long after the video ends.
