A new film has hit theaters that offers a unique perspective on the elusive creature known as Sasquatch. Directed by David Zelner and Nathan Zelner, the film follows a group of Sasquatches as they make their way across the Pacific Northwest throughout the course of a year. The film, titled "Sasquatch Sunset," is not a horror movie, but rather a genre movie that views the world through the gentle and innocent eyes of these modern-day Cryptids. The Sasquatches communicate through grunts and hoots, and despite the absence of dialogue, the actors are able to convey distinct personalities and complex emotions. Jesse Eisenberg and Riley Keough play two of the main Sasquatches, along with Nathan Zelner and Kristoff Zajac Denek. The film is a fascinating watch as it explores the enigma of Sasquatch, showing them as somewhat human yet very much a part of nature. The quiet scenes after moments of aggression or despair are particularly noteworthy, as the Sasquatches seem to take comfort in interacting with smaller animals of the forest. The film also highlights the determination of the Sasquatches to find more of their kind, as they are a species slowly growing extinct. The Sasquatch costumes are some of the best practical fur suits you're going to see on screen, with heavily made-up facial appliances that change the faces of the actors yet still allow them to emote a ton of different feelings. However, some may criticize the film for not accurately portraying the proportions and behaviors of Sasquatch as reported by many sightings. Overall, "Sasquatch Sunset" is a beautifully filmed, defly acted, often silly, often gross, often poignant, and often absurd tale of one year in the lives of four Sasquatches. It's not going to be for everyone, but for those with an appreciation for Sasquatch lore and absurdist humor, it's definitely worth a watch. I am excited to see this film and the unique perspective it offers on the elusive creature. I encourage all Bigfoot enthusiasts to check it out and share their thoughts in the comments below.
