A Class A Bigfoot encounter out of Oregon is making the rounds again, and honestly, this one is a doozy. A father and his 19-year-old son were out bow hunting near Sweet Home in Linn County back in August of 2012, camping without a campfire on a moonlit night, when their trip took a turn straight into nightmare territory. The encounter kicked off around 11:30 PM. The father was awakened by what he figured was just a deer, elk, or bear shuffling around outside the tent, so he rolled over and went back to sleep. Meanwhile, his son hadn't dozed off yet, and what he witnessed next is the kind of thing that sticks with you for life. A massive hand pressed against the side of the tent, three fingers spread wide, each one roughly four to five inches across. Along with that came mumbling vocalizations from whatever was right outside the fabric. Here's where it gets interesting. The father had been snoring, and the son later speculated that the sound might have drawn the attention of whatever was out there. Imagine that, a Sasquatch poking around your campsite because your dad is sawing logs too loud. Almost sounds like something out of a comedy, except nobody was laughing. Things escalated from there. Footsteps moved from the tent over to the truck, and something started rummaging around in the back of it. When the father finally noticed his son, the kid was convulsively shivering inside his sleeping bag with his head completely covered. The poor guy was terrified. When nature finally called and both men got out of the tent to relieve themselves, they each spotted large, dark silhouettes in the tree line. One figure was caught in a flashlight beam, standing roughly eight and a half feet tall, covered in dark brown, almost black hair, and raising a massive hand to shield its eyes from the glare. That detail about the light sensitivity is something researchers have noted in other encounters too, and it's a handy way to distinguish a Sasquatch from your average human stumbling through the woods. The ordeal dragged on for hours. The father eventually started the truck, and one of the figures stood about 30 yards back, just watching. Rather than stick around and try to figure out what to do next, the two of them grabbed the tent, threw it in the truck without even breaking it down, and hauled ass out of there. Can't say I blame them. What really sets this report apart is the follow-up. BFRO investigator Jeff Robertson (sometimes listed as Robinson) actually drove out to meet both men at the site, some 40 miles or so from the nearest town, and sat down with them on camera. During the entire interview, both father and son were visibly shaking, and the son in particular was overcome with emotion while recounting what happened. These weren't weekend campers who got spooked by a branch snapping. The investigator noted that both men had spent most of their lives in the woods and were completely comfortable outdoors, yet this experience left them horrified. No tracks were found at the site, but the ground was dry, rocky, and covered in forest floor duff, which would make prints tough to find anyway. The BFRO classified this as a Class A sighting, which is their highest tier for encounter reports. The whole story is worth checking out over on the Black Timber Archives channel. They walk through the original report and the investigation notes, and the host's reactions are pretty entertaining too. Definitely a video to add to your Sasquatch encounter playlist.
