After watching the famous Patterson-Gimlin film at the Spokane Coliseum with his brother and father, his fascination with the subject only grew. Years later, while walking down a moonlit hill, he spotted what he initially mistook for a tree. There was no tree there — he would have remembered raking hay around it. As he got within about 40 yards, the figure moved. He clicked on his flashlight, and the creature turned away from him and stepped down into a creek behind it. What he saw hanging at its side was a hand so massive that his own would have looked like a child's inside it. He did what most of us probably would have done — he ran. Armed only with a .22 magnum pistol meant for coyotes, he sprinted back up the hill and asked his cousin for an AR-15. Whatever it was, it was taller, bigger, and more massive than he was. While in the woods, his two youngest sons spotted a creature and watched it for about five minutes. The older of the two decided to approach, and the creature matched his movement, closing the distance until they were roughly 80 feet apart. They stood there, staring at each other for three to five minutes, before the creature let out a snort and took off down the hill. Almost simultaneously, the witness caught something in his peripheral vision and was overcome by a sensation he still can't explain to this day. He describes it as a breakdown — he laid down on the ground, felt deeply ill, and the experience lasted a couple of minutes before he recovered. Whatever was out there had an effect on him, physically and otherwise, and he's never experienced anything like it since. Perhaps the most fascinating segment comes from a British witness whose story challenges the assumption that Sasquatch is strictly a North American phenomenon. As a child visiting her grandparents in Carmile, she was walking down a farm track with the family dog to pick up newspapers from a neighbor who always rewarded kids with a sweetie. The dog stopped dead in her tracks, hackles raised, teeth bared, eyes bulging — completely unsure how to react. Looking up, the witness saw a tall, broad, pure black figure bending down a branch of an ash tree, calmly examining the leaves. It hadn't broken the branch — just held it. She froze in shock for a couple of seconds before screaming, and the figure slowly began to turn before she bolted back to the house, screaming through tears that she'd seen a monster. Years later, while driving up the same road, she saw a large grayish figure standing in the middle of the road with an orange reflection in its eyes — something that didn't quite match a human silhouette. For thirty years, she pushed the memory to the back of her mind until an accidental viewing of Finding Bigfoot made her reconsider. The details lined up too well to ignore. That realization led her down a rabbit hole of British sightings, including reports from Torphins in Aberdeenshire in the mid-90s, and the work of a prolific British cryptozoologist whose research into these phenomena continues to this day.
