A recent upload from the World Bigfoot Central channel features one of the most unique witness accounts to surface in a while, and it's one that had me hitting replay more than once. The episode of World Bigfoot Radio hosted by Big Sky brings on a guest named Daniel, who at the time of his encounter was just 18 years old, serving on a tank crew stationed in Germany. Now 45, he's finally sharing a story he's only told three people in his entire life.
The setting alone makes this one stand out. Daniel was operating an M1A1 Abrams tank as part of a four-tank V formation conducting training maneuvers across a German military base. It was early morning, maybe 8 or 9 AM, and the terrain was wide open, a grassy saddle between hills with a dense forest lining the ridge to his right. Visibility was excellent. The grass was only about six inches tall, nothing obscuring the view.
That's when he noticed something off to his right.
At first glance, Daniel thought he was looking at the backside of a horse. A massive one. The shape was enormous, and the idea of a horse being on an armored training base didn't make sense, but he kept driving. Tanks only move about 30 to 35 mph top speed, and they weren't pushing that, so he had plenty of time to keep watching as the distance closed.
As he got closer, around 100 to 150 yards out, he realized this was no horse. There was no tail. The proportions were all wrong. The front of the creature stood roughly seven feet tall while the rear was closer to five feet. And the way it moved was bizarre. The front limbs were lifting straight up and down, almost like pistons, while the back legs shuffled forward. Those limbs, Daniel estimates, were about eight inches thick from top to bottom, round like columns, with no hooves visible through the grass.
The hair was something he keeps coming back to. It wasn't long and shaggy like so many depictions suggest. It was well-groomed, not matted, and the color struck him as almost beige, like a summer deer coat before it grays out for winter. The creature was heading toward the wooded ridge at a 45-degree angle away from the tank formation, moving at a steady, unhurried pace.
What really sealed the identification for Daniel was when Big Sky sent him some artist renditions of Sasquatch moving on all fours. One particular image matched what he saw almost perfectly, the posture, the shape, the rounded limbs, even the way the front arms seemed to fold over.
Here's where it gets even more interesting. Big Sky mentions that this area of Germany has a history with these creatures going back roughly 500 years. A local knight reportedly fought one and commissioned an artist to create an accurate wood block print of the encounter, then distributed copies to his buddies as proof of his kill. The location of Daniel's sighting lines up with that historical account, which adds a fascinating layer to an already compelling story.
Daniel never told his tank commander what he was seeing. What could he say? You're driving a 60-ton armored vehicle and you spot something that doesn't belong in any field manual. He just kept driving and kept watching until the creature disappeared into the tree line.
The full interview is worth the listen. Daniel's calm, matter-of-fact delivery makes the details hit even harder. Check it out on the World Bigfoot Central channel and hear the story straight from the source.
