Woman Dragged From Tent By Unknown Creature In Oregon Campground

Okay, so I just came across this absolutely wild interview over on the Strange Familiars YouTube channel, and I have to share it because it is one of those stories that just stays with you long after you hear it. A woman named Willow sat down and told her story about being physically carried off in her sleeping bag by something she now believes was Sasquatch, and the details are honestly chilling. The encounter happened back in 1995 in the rugged mountains of southern Oregon. Willow and her mother, who was in her 60s at the time, were slowly making their way north in a passenger van, taking in the late August tourist spots. Because it was after Labor Day, the campground they pulled into was completely deserted. Seventeen sites, not a soul in sight, and the campground host was nowhere to be found. The place was quiet, remote, surrounded by old growth Douglas firs, with a creek running through a narrow canyon below. And here's an interesting detail Willow pointed out: there were no bear lockers at the sites, which suggests bears in that area weren't habituated to raiding camps. The habitat was perfect for a Sasquatch, too, with huckleberry, salal, and hazelnut bushes growing thick down toward the water, plus a creek full of fish. Willow had a brand new self-supporting backpacking tent, the kind with fiberglass poles and shock cord, so she didn't bother staking it down. Her mom had this tiny vintage tent from the late 1950s that you had to crawl into on your hands and knees. They had a peaceful evening and went to sleep. Then things got really strange. Willow started having this vivid dream where she was skiing backwards down a slope while her mom stood at the top blowing a whistle. She woke up and realized she was gliding smoothly downhill inside her tent, still in her mummy bag. Something had picked up the foot end of her tent and dragged her about 20 or 30 feet across the flat part of the campground, then started dragging her upright down a 30 percent slope toward the ravine, about 100 feet down to the water. Her mother came running out of her tent blowing a whistle to scare whatever it was away, and that's when Willow suddenly went airborne. She started bouncing and tumbling downhill in her tent, boom boom boom, until she launched into a big Doug fir and the tent got stuck in the branches about four feet off the ground. She ended up rolling around in the bushes, completely disoriented, at 2:00 in the morning. They were so shaken up that they spent the rest of the night huddled in the van, and when daylight came, Willow went back down to find her tent hanging upside down in that tree. The physical evidence was right there. What makes this story stand out to me is that Willow didn't even know what Sasquatch was at the time. She thought it was just some tourist shop joke. She wasn't trying to fit her experience into any narrative. She just knew something physically strong and bizarre had grabbed her tent with her inside and carried her off. And the fact that it dropped her the moment her mother started blowing a whistle, and that the campground had no bear lockers, makes the bear theory feel pretty weak. A bear doesn't drag a tent with a person inside it 100 feet down a slope and then toss it into a tree.
