A fascinating interview recently surfaced featuring Jordan D. Wilson, a Bigfoot hunter and medicine man from the Hzick First Nation, who shares a compelling encounter that took place just a couple of years ago while he was out harvesting traditional medicines in the forest.
Wilson has serious credentials when it comes to bush knowledge. He spent five years doing grizzly bear research down at the Quay Quay River and has encountered both black bears and grizzlies throughout his career. So when he says something unusual happened, it's worth paying attention.
The encounter began while Wilson was collecting pine pitch and medicine roots for a cultural program, hiking with his dog Luna, a pitbull-husky mix. Following traditional trapper knowledge passed down from his late uncle, he made his way to high ground to survey his surroundings. That's when both he and Luna heard a noise from a lower hill. They scanned the area but couldn't see anything, and there was no scent to give them a clue. They figured it could have been a deer or wolf and continued on.
Then things got really interesting. As they reached an open field, Wilson came across a track he estimates was about the size of a large grizzly bear. But what made this track stand out was the distinct heel and pronounced toes, and the fact that it was pressed into moss. For a track to leave an imprint in moss, whatever made it had to be significantly heavy. Wilson initially considered it could be a bear, but the footprint structure gave him pause.
While he was harvesting medicine, Luna started getting a little whiny and impatient. That's when Wilson looked across a small field opening and saw something that stopped him in his tracks. Standing upright on a hillside across from him, partially hidden behind a cedar tree, was the back of a dark figure. He estimates it was somewhere between seven and eight feet tall.
What really sealed it for Wilson was seeing the hair blowing in the wind. That's when he knew exactly what he was looking at. The Sasquatch then backtracked and came back up the hill, standing behind some cedars. Wilson says this verified the track he had found earlier. It definitely wasn't a black bear standing on its hind legs.
Wilson mentions he wasn't particularly afraid, given his experience with bears, but he knew something significant was there. He also notes that other people who've had Sasquatch encounters often fire a shot in the air or make noise to warn of their presence, which mirrors bear awareness protocols.
This account is particularly interesting because of the combination of physical evidence (the unusual track with distinct toes and heel pressed into moss), the visual sighting with hair blowing in the wind, and the Sasquatch's behavior of backtracking and returning to the same area. Wilson's background in bear research and traditional knowledge adds significant weight to his observations. For anyone interested in Sasquatch encounters from people with deep cultural connections to the land, this interview is absolutely worth watching.
