There's a fascinating conversation happening over on The Bizarre and the Unknown YouTube channel that every Sasquatch researcher needs to hear. Host Ed Teshman sits down with Jerry Randenberg for a deep dive into the differences between Northwestern Bigfoot and their Central United States counterparts, and the discussion gets really interesting.
What makes this episode stand out is the regional comparison angle. Jerry and Ed break down how Bigfoot seem to adapt to their environments in ways that mirror other wildlife. Up in Alaska, where food is scarcer and the competition is fiercer, reports consistently describe larger, more aggressive individuals. As you move down through Canada and into the Northern US, they're still big but tend to be a bit less hostile. By the time you reach the southern states and swamp regions, the dynamic shifts again. In places like Florida, where these beings are reportedly competing with alligators and even invasive pythons for resources, aggression levels reportedly spike.
Jerry brings some firsthand experience to the table from his time in Southern California, where he's been actively gifting on a local hiking trail. He describes leaving fruit, vegetables, and fish out regularly, and his encounters have been remarkably peaceful. But here's where things get really wild. Jerry claims to have captured a series of four consecutive photos on his phone that show something truly bizarre. The first two images show what appears to be a Sasquatch with its head poking out of a hole, looking downward. The third photo shows the head moving forward and upward. And the fourth? Jerry describes the creature looking directly at him with one eye shut and a massive grin. He believes he accidentally captured a being coming through some kind of portal while simultaneously metamorphosing into a Bigfoot. That's the kind of photographic evidence that would make any researcher's jaw drop.
Ed, on the other hand, admits he's generally against gifting practices. He references too many reports of things going sideways once people stop leaving offerings, including homes getting ransacked and other unsettling encounters. The closest he's come to gifting himself is leaving harvested animal remains at a specific spot, which he says disappears within a day or two. During his documentary work on Byways of Bigfoot, his team did conduct a gifting experiment that produced eerie results. Something accessed a peanut butter jar, removed the lid, and peeled the silver cellophane wrapper off so cleanly it left no mark on the jar. The peanut butter was completely gone.
Jerry also shared his very first gifting experience, which came with an unexpected sighting. After filling an ice chest and leaving everything out for them, he turned to see a black blur, roughly four feet tall, sprinting behind them for about 20 feet. It was fast, it was close, and it was something he's never witnessed before or since.
The conversation also touches on the infamous Momo case, with Ed pointing out that while Momo was labeled aggressive, the being mostly targeted dogs rather than people, suggesting the behavior was food-motivated rather than hostile.
This episode is absolutely worth the listen for anyone interested in how Sasquatch behavior might shift depending on geography, food availability, and competition. Jerry's portal photos alone are enough to make this one a must-watch. Check it out and see what you think.
