What if Sasquatch isn't just a cryptid roaming the forests, but actually shares our DNA? That's the wild premise explored in a recent interview that dropped on the BigfootStacy YouTube channel, and honestly, it's one of those conversations that makes you sit back and really think about what we might be dealing with out there.
The guest on this one is Norman Sollie, an author who wrote a book called "Before Patty, Volume One: Patrick, the Sasquatch Human Hybrid and Our Genetic Inheritance." Yeah, you read that right. Norman isn't just speculating about Sasquatch from his couch. He actually dug into some old anthropological records and found something fascinating.
According to Norman, there's an old paper documenting interviews conducted on a reservation in Washington State back in the 1890s. The interviews revealed that an Indigenous woman was allegedly taken by what was called a "scanum" (which is essentially a word for Sasquatch in some Native American traditions). She was held for a couple of months before managing to escape, but she came back pregnant. That child, named Patrick, was born and lived an incredibly long life, passing away in 1962.
Now here's where it gets really interesting. Patrick went on to have eight children, and some of those children had children of their own. Norman believes Patrick was literally a hybrid, half Sasquatch and half modern human. And if that's true, it means Sasquatch and humans are closely related enough genetically to produce offspring together. That's a huge claim, and it opens up so many questions about what Sasquatch actually is.
Norman mentioned he deliberately stopped researching the living descendants out of respect for their privacy. Imagine getting a phone call saying your great-grandfather might have been the son of a Sasquatch. That's a lot to process. The respect he showed there speaks volumes about his character as a researcher.
This theory actually aligns with some longstanding Native American traditions that have spoken of marriages and relationships between their people and the forest beings for centuries. Many tribes across the Pacific Northwest and beyond have oral histories describing interactions with these tall, hairy forest people that go back generations. The idea that Sasquatch could be a closely related hominid species rather than some unknown ape-like creature has been floated by researchers for years, and Norman's research adds a fascinating new dimension to that conversation.
The interview itself is worth checking out. Stacy from BigfootStacy handles the conversation well, asking the right questions and letting Norman tell his story. There's also some bonus content in the video, including a teaser trailer for a short film about the Legend of Tate's Hell that Stacy is working on with Shane Grove from the "From the Shadows" podcast. They're actually expanding it into a full feature-length film, which sounds like a really cool project for anyone interested in the darker side of Sasquatch lore.
Stacy also mentioned an upcoming expedition to the Red River Gorge in Kentucky from October 1st through 4th on a 300-acre private property. Sounds like an incredible location with one road in and one road out, which is pretty much ideal Sasquatch hunting territory. They're even attempting to set a world record for the largest Bigfoot gathering, which would be amazing to see happen.
If you're into the more scientific and anthropological angles of Sasquatch research, this interview is definitely worth your time. Norman brings a unique perspective that challenges how we typically think about these elusive forest beings. Head over to the BigfootStacy channel and check it out when you get a chance.
