There are probably thousands of different species that haven?t been scientifically classified as a species, but that doesn?t mean they haven?t been discovered!

4. Ivory-billed Woodpecker

Due to deforestation in certain parts of the southeastern united states, it?s been widely believed for the past 100 years or so that this rare bird is actually extict. So this might not necessarily be the scariest cryptid on this list but it is certain that it existed at some point. Many are still wondering if this rare bird is still out there. The bill is rather the legendary part of the animal and is said to resemble very closely to elephant ivory. Sightings were reported by intensive researchers and respectable figures who have sought to prove that it does exist. They claim to have seen it but the lack of photographic evidence once again means that we can?t conclude anything!

3. Loch Ness

You might have heard of some rumors out there flying around that there could be a monster somewhere in the Scottish Highlands. This is one of the more modern legendary sea creatures out there who?s doing a pretty good job of hiding. The freshwater lochs found in the Scotland highlands are, large, deep bodies of water and are big enough to possibly hide a mysterious creature. Many sonar scans of the lake have came back without conclusions to whether this mythical being truly exists. Many tourists have made a trips here and claim to spot some bumps in the water which could be some bumps on the large creatures back. A fossilized skeleton of a ichthyosaurus was unearthed on the isle of skye. The creature would have been about 13 feet long and would have looked like something similar to what you see in this photo. This confirms that loch ness like creatures have existed in scotland at one point in time, but could they still be out there? Or maybe people have been searching for the loch ness in the wrong place? 2. Giant Squid

Despite there being plenty of specimens of giant squid on display at museums across the globe, they technically aren?t a scientifically species which basically makes them a cryptid. People who?ve travelled the open sea for long enough periods of time might report seeing a massive squid or creature of some sort that baffles them. We know of tales about the kraken from the vikings but it?s possible that maybe they were seeing giant squids. One of the more interesting cases of scientists discovering what was left of a giant squid took place when they found part of it inside a sperm whale, which appears to be it?s only known predator. The head is preserved at the london natural history museum and it?s pretty creepy.The list of abnormally large squid have been reported almost too many times to count. Detailed accounts date back to 1545 with some being described being at least 30 feet long. One of the more recent accounts comes from Tasmania in april of 2018 again which was caught and photographed then sent back into the water. It weighed at least 440 pounds and was about 10 feet long. So these monsters are definitely out there and keep that in mind the next time your foot touches a piece of seaweed.

1. Kongamato

Africa is a vast mysterious place with many dense forestation in the center of the continent. It wasn?t long before explorers to this uncharted territory began to get a little bit frightened by what mysterious unknown creatures could be out there. One of them was what was known as the Kongamato which is alledgedly a massive pterodactyl type creature that flies through the jungles of the congo and attacks people?s boats. They would come from the sky and peck at anyone trying to float around on the rivers here. Most of the legends came locals until in 1956 when finally an engineer sighted a creature that was described as a flying creature with a wingspan of about 4 to 7 feet. The next year another adventurer came to the area near the Banweulu swamps with a claw wound to the chest. He was rather convinced the animal was prehistoric. Could some large animals have possibly survived the mass extinction that took place millions of years ago. Or is everyone just slightly delusional.
