A sighting of a possible Bigfoot has emerged in Oregon, adding to the growing body of evidence. The latest witness to come forward is E.J. Merl, a truck driver who claims to have had a close encounter with an eight-foot-tall creature on a dark and rainy night in 2004. According to Mr. Merl's account, he was driving his truck on Interstate 5 in Oregon, heading south from Seattle to Sacramento, when he decided to take a half-hour nap at Rice Hill, near Roseburg, at around 3:30 a.m. He then took a shower and grabbed a cup of coffee before hitting the road again. As he was driving, he saw a semi-truck behind him, about a quarter mile away, and the road was wet and overcast. As he was climbing a hill, he turned on his bright lights to see ahead and saw something standing on the side of the road, right on the white line, with its head down and facing the opposite side. It had long hair, and Mr. Merl's first thought was that it was a soak and wet hitchhiker. He turned off his bright lights to avoid blinding the person and moved over partially into the other lane to avoid hitting him. As he went by, he saw the person's face and eyes, which were orange-yellowish in color. They were standing six feet apart, looking at each other in the face. When he looked in the mirror, he saw the silhouette of the person, who took three steps and disappeared into the woods out of sight. He estimated the person's height to be seven foot eight inches tall. When he got back home a few days later, he told his family about what he had seen. His brother-in-law, who was six feet tall, measured the point where he saw the person's eyes cross his window and mirrors, and it came out to be seven foot eight inches tall. He then spoke to a friend in Eugene, who told him that he might have seen Bigfoot, which had been sighted in the area around Crater Lake. While Mr. Merl admits that he has never really claimed to have seen Bigfoot, he is convinced that he saw something he cannot explain. He believes that if it was Bigfoot, it would answer a lot of his questions. He is still skeptical, but he knows what he saw. Mr. Merl's story is another piece of evidence in the puzzle of the elusive Bigfoot. As sightings continue to accumulate, the possibility that these creatures are real grows stronger, and researchers are redoubling their efforts to find and study them.
