It was a warm, sunny October afternoon in 1981 when Derek and his companion decided to go out for a ride in the country. They were driving east of Bedford, Indiana on a small gravel road near the airport when Derek's companion suddenly pointed out that someone was watching them. Derek looked up and to his shock, he saw a creature standing in the middle of the road about 50-60 yards away. It was at least 6-7 feet tall, standing upright, and covered in long, dark gray and brown hair. Derek's heart began to race as he slowly removed an M1 carbine from its case and inserted a magazine. The creature continued to watch them closely, its dark eyes seemingly boring into Derek's soul. He could feel the hair on the back of his neck standing up as he stepped out of the truck and began to move towards it. As he approached, the creature turned and ran into the cornfield, disappearing into the thick briars. Derek could hear the rustling of the cornstalks as the creature moved through the field, but he couldn't see it anymore. He returned to the truck, shaken and scared. He had never seen anything like it before and couldn't believe what he had just witnessed. His companion was terrified and begged him to take her home, which he did. Derek never went out again and never reported the incident, thinking no one would believe him anyway. But he couldn't shake the image of the creature from his mind and often wondered why he didn't fire his weapon at it. It looked somewhat human-like and didn't make any threatening behavior, but Derek couldn't explain why he didn't shoot. Years later, Derek heard of other Bigfoot sightings in the area and realized he wasn't alone in his encounter. He decided to come forward and share his story, hoping to find answers and closure to the strange encounter that had haunted him for so long. He joined a local Bigfoot research group and spent countless hours combing the woods and fields for any sign of the creature. Despite his efforts, Derek never saw the creature again. But he continued to search, driven by the need to understand what he had seen and to prove to others that Bigfoot was real. He spent years studying the creature, learning everything he could about its habits and behavior. And though he never found the answers he was looking for, Derek never lost hope that one day he would come face to face with the creature again.
