A compelling family account recently surfaced on YouTube that's been getting some attention in the Sasquatch community, and it's one of those stories that really sticks with you. It comes from a woman named Sandra, who wrote in to share an experience her younger brother had back in the late 1960s when he was just 10 years old. The setting? Michigan's Upper Peninsula, deep in the woods on a dead-end gravel road where everyone was either family or step-family. The kind of place where neighbors helped each other with crops, cement work, and yes, deer drives. Sandra, her 10-year-old brother, and her 8-year-old youngest brother were recruited by a neighbor to help drive deer on his back 40 acres, part of a beef farm that was well-fenced and maintained with a two-track road running along the inside of the fence line. The brother was stationed at the southwest corner with a gun, while Sandra was put in charge of the neighbor's younger children along the north fence line, where the 12 inches of new snow made walking easier. About three-quarters of the way through the drive, things got strange. Someone shouted for Sandra to get the kids down on the ground. Three deer came barreling toward them at full speed, completely winded and not caring one bit that people were in their path. They were running right toward the drivers, which made no sense at all. Nobody got a shot off. When Sandra met up with her brother at his corner, she found him pale, quiet, and dead serious. He told her he had seen an "abominable snowman" step out of the woods right behind him. Now, this was a kid who didn't tell stories and didn't lie. Sandra had absolutely no reason to doubt him. The creature came up behind him and stepped right over a five-strand barbed wire fence, stopped, looked down at the boy, then stepped over the other side of the corner and disappeared into the woods. Her brother said it looked irritated. When asked what he did, he said he looked up, then looked straight ahead and didn't move. Smart kid, honestly. Sandra saw the huge tracks in the snow herself, which helped her wrap her mind around what her brother was telling her. The Michigan Upper Peninsula is no stranger to Sasquatch reports. The region is heavily forested, sparsely populated, and borders Wisconsin, which has its own long history of sightings. The U.P. specifically has been a hotspot for decades, with reports ranging from sightings to vocalizations echoing through the dense hardwood and pine forests. What makes this account even more interesting is that Sandra's family has had other encounters over the years. Her niece reportedly had a large Sasquatch run across the road right in front of her one night, just five miles from where the original incident took place. Sandra's mother heard a screaming roar one evening at the same location, so loud that she ran to close her patio door. These multiple family encounters across different decades add a layer of credibility that's hard to ignore. Sandra, now in her 60s, still lives in the woods, though she's since moved to a different state right next to Canada. She lives near the Grand Portage Band of the Anishinaabe (Chippewa), and one tribal member shared that they had heard Sasquatch while hunting or camping in the woods. Even more fascinating, the tribal elders reportedly said that Sasquatch speaks in ancient tribal dialects. This kind of cultural connection between Indigenous communities and Sasquatch is something that comes up fairly often in research circles. Many Native American tribes across North America have long-standing oral traditions about these beings, often referred to as wild people, forest giants, or by specific names in their own languages. The Anishinaabe, in particular, have rich oral histories that include stories of large, hairy beings who inhabit the deep woods. The video's host walks through the account thoughtfully, noting the distinction between what Sandra personally witnessed (the deer's unusual behavior, her brother's demeanor, and the tracks in the snow) versus what her brother directly experienced. He points out that while the fence-crossing detail is useful, the number of wire strands alone doesn't establish the creature's height. He also acknowledges that the deer's panicked movement may have influenced how the family interpreted the event, and that mistaken identification of an animal or person remains a possibility that the available description can't really test. Still, the host concludes that the report is consistent with known Sasquatch behavior, and the area is well-known for Sasquatch and other cryptid activity, including Dogman sightings. He states he has no reason to doubt Sandra's story and considers it an actual Sasquatch sighting. This is the kind of account that reminds us why these stories matter. A 10-year-old boy, alone at a fence corner in the snowy Michigan woods, coming face to face with something he couldn't explain. And then carrying that memory for the rest of his life. The deer knew something was wrong. The boy knew something was wrong. And the tracks in the snow told Sandra everything she needed to know. Definitely worth checking out the full video for yourself. The narration is excellent, and Sandra's letter is read in a way that really lets the weight of the experience come through.
